Dreaming about...

I frequently have dreams and I can’t say most of them are so sweet. And usually I can’t remember the sweet ones. I really wish I could but just the nightmares stick in my mind when ı wake up in the morning. So probably the one that I will tell you about actually isn’t so much strange but a scary one. One night my roommate went on a trip and I was alone in my room. İ went to sleep  as usual. Everything was so normal. My bed is right in front of the window, but I hadn’t any problem with that until that night. I fell asleep and in my dream I woke up in my bed but didn’t get up. I was looking out of the window and all of a sudden ı saw a shadow in the balcony. I can’t describe how it looks like, but it definitely has a big hand and a pretty long arm. While I was looking out dreadfully its hand grabbed my neck and ı felt like suffocating in reality. That feeling was so real that I woke up and looked at the window to see if it was still there. Of course it wasn’t, but I really had some difficulties about falling asleep again after this nightmare and changed the placement of my bed.

A Fuller Life

Everyone wants to leave behind happy memories and do everything she wants throughout her life. I guess most of us made a bucket list at some point in our life. We decide to get rid of all our regrets and live in a better way. We think that we have come to this world just once and there are things that we should do before the day when we will die comes. But every time we fail because there are a lot things that we don't consider and things that interrupts our life and people who are trying to shape our life instead of us. Sometimes we just let them do it because of the moral values or society that we need to fit in. Most of the time it is not worth it. The most important thing in this life is to follow your dreams to live the life that you want whatever it costs. Nobody is that important to sacrifice from your life and happiness. It is your life and it is your time. Be the one who is in charge of your life! This world is full of boring daily routines. Just don't accept this ordinary life. Everything is possible if you really work for it and put it all your strength and efforts! Follow your dreams and like Tony Graskins said ' if you don't build your dreams, someone else will hire you to build theirs.'  

Brainstrom

Let’s brainstorm a little bit. I need to describe a photo, but I didn’t take it or I don’t know anything about the picture. I just found it on the internet. First of all, I want to write what we see in the picture at first glance. This photo shows two women standing at a door.  These women are probably from the far east part of the world. One of them looks older and she may be the mother or sister of the other girl. They must be living in a suburban area because there is not a pleasant environment in the background and also we can see a flood in the background. They are looking at something. They could be waiting for help or they could be in the house and not in danger, but there could be some children or somebody else they are waiting to be saved. They don’t look like they get into a panic. And even the older one is smoking. It may be because of the nervous, but they are kind of curious about something and flood is not that bad. They look like they are in safe. Okay, another idea, they may be just watching the people who are trying to survive in the flood. That is all I can see and think about this picture. 

SUCH A DİSAPPOİNTMENT

I am going to tell you a yikes moment of mine. It was a very unfortunate moment and I can’t forget that day. Last year, I had a boyfriend and we were studying universities in different cities. It was a long distance relationship and we were living in the same city. It was a midterm break and we were going to our hometowns. I bought my ticket and got there already. He was supposed to the same thing. He bought a plane ticket and went a long way to the airport. He went in there a few hours earlier so he started to wait. When the plane time came, he looked at the screen displaying plane times, but there was something wrong, he couldn't find his plane on the screen. Then he went to the information of the airways he found out there was no plane at that time and he bought a ticket the opposite way. The ticket was from our hometown to the city where he was studying. So he had to go back to his dorm and I was very excited and waiting for him. But when I heard what happened, it was a big disappointment of course and it costed him a lot of money because he bought a new plane ticket for the next day. Maybe it was just one more day, but when you miss someone so much it seems like a big deal for you and you also feel sorry for him. Anyways, he finally made it and  a happy ending J

Taboo Party

We gave a party as a homework last week. Yes, we gave a lot of times before, but this time was for my homework. How lucky I am. JIt should be an English party and I am kind of lucky because I am an Erasmus student here and we have a lot of friends from around the  world and we talk in English of course. We were about ten people and we played some games all night, but the funniest one was taboo. Because some people were playing it for the first time and they liked it, too. First of all we played charades. In the beginning, we split up into two groups and we chose about 20 movies per group. Since it is  a kind of game in which you are not allowed to speak we didn't use English that much. But then we got bored and started to play taboo. In this game there are cards on which one main word is written, and there some more which are forbidden to use and you try to explain the main word without using the taboo words in half and a minute. You should use the words wisely and make your group guess the word. It really helps you improve your English because you should be fast and understandable to win. We really enjoyed that night and we laughed  a lot. It was one of the best night in Erasmus.

Evaluation of My Language In Use Course

This course was really the best one that I took for this semester. I didn't even get bored when I was doing the homeworks because any of them was boring. Since they are about daily life they are easier and more entertaining. Who doesn’t like a lesson in which you are supposed to watch movie and listen songs. And I learnt about something new about Christmas and this culture which is very interesting for me.  I could feel comfortable because our teacher is very friendly to us. We sang songs together a few times. I think they were the best parts of the lesson.I really had fun.  And we did various kinds of exercises like listening, speaking, grammar. We are supposed to participate in the lesson and to be more active in the lessons. It is really good for us to improve our English. Most of the teachers in my country don’t apply this in their lessons but in my opinion it is the most important thing because language is multidimensiol. It doesn’t consist of just grammar. The only thing that I didn’t like so much is the duration of classes. It is a little long for me. Since I am not used to it sometimes I had difficulties about it. Except this, it was really good. And I think I will take the second part of this lesson if I stay here for one more semester.

Pieces of April

Last Thursday was Thanksgiving day. I watched a movie about it. Its name is Pieces of April. Thanksgiving is a day when all the family members come together and share their food, feelings and everything and the day families are closest as much as ı know. For example in the movie I watched the girl tries to host a Thanksgiving dinner for her family because she wants to spend more time with her family before her mother dies. And her family realized that they don't have any good memories with her so this is a good chance for her to change it. For this reason she tries too hard even if she doesn't know how to make even smashed potato. This day is a good opportunity for everybody to forgive one another, feel grateful, be positive and make peace. The dinner is just an excuse to gather together and spend time with your family. In the movie when she is trying to cook turkey, her oven is broken and she asks almost all of the neighbors and finally she makes it in some way. She cooks for one hour in one neighbor and for two hours in another. She learns some receipt from them and sometimes she teaches something to her foreign neighbors. Finally she has this day as it should be. This teaches a lesson all of us that is we all need each other and these days remind us of that.
